About 1880
Visitors to Indian Mound Cemetery often comment about its tranquil park-like setting. The cemetery grounds have not changed significantly since its founding in 1863, with the exception of saplings that have now grown to heights exceeding 60 feet.

2008
Our groundskeepers, with occasional assistance from the Cayuga County Department of Corrections, work very hard to keep the grass and weeds under control and debris picked up.

As a "rural cemetery association" we are not funded by any government entity. Instead we earn a small amount of interest income from investments and must pay for the remainder of our expenses through donations. We greatly appreciate all the assistance we receive from our "Friends"

Each spring we send our friends an update along with a request for donations. In return we hold a Friends of the Cemetery day in June when we encourage everyone, friend or not, to tour the grounds and learn about some of the cemetery's history and appreciate the treasure we have in our midst.

If you would like to become a friend, please complete the contact form below. We will be happy to send you our most recent letter or put you on our mailing list for the next one. Your tax-deductible donation is welcome anytime.
